Professional background leading to a career in health and wellness:
Prior to working at NPT HealthWorks I completed my undergraduate degree at Grand Valley State University and my doctor of physical therapy degree at Bellarmine University. During my time at Grand Valley I was a part of their student scholars program, working on marathon racing shoe research with a professor and mentor, that sparked my interest in the evidence based world and the process of establishing that. I also worked as a physical therapy tech in an outpatient clinic for 3 years to earn hours for physical therapy school. During my time at Bellarmine I continued my work in research in the pediatric world and had the opportunity to present 2 studies at the american physical therapy association conference. These experiences have shaped me into the physical therapist I am today and I am thankful for the opportunities thus far!
​What reasons you are passionate about helping others:
I am passionate about helping others because I love connecting with people and using my knowledge to help them reach their goals and improve overall outcomes. There is something very special about creating a team approach with a patient and caretaker, to help them return to their sport/activity or improve someone's ease with doing functional activities such as getting up from a chair or walking short/long distances. Lastly, teaching strategies and ways for people to manage their care independently are another rewarding part of this job.
What do you enjoy in your free time:
In my free time I love to spend time with friends and family, play beach/indoor volleyball, run, travel, play card games, ski, and spend time at the beach!
