FAQs
Why train for my recreational sports?
When we are young, we move our bodies in a variety of ways all day long. As we get older, the variety and frequency with which we use our bodies decreases dramatically. We start to lose mobility and tissue elasticity, so preparing our bodies for sport becomes more and more important. You can’t expect your body to be able to jump back into your recreational activities every year without easing yourself back into it. A little bit of preparation can go a long way in improving performance and preventing injury throughout the season.
Why train for ski season?
Skiing and snowboarding are some of the only sports where people will stop in the spring and then not think about it again until they start back up again in the winter. You wouldn’t run a marathon (~4-5 hours of running) without training, so why should you ski a full day (~4-8 hours) without any training either? Preparing your body for sport will allow you to last longer throughout the day, feel more confident on harder terrain, and prevent injury throughout the season.

What kind of exercise can I expect in this class?
Class is designed to improve overall strength, agility, balance, and endurance. A portion of the class will be spent in a circuit format with multiple different exercises, and a portion will be spent working on cardio equipment for endurance and cardiovascular health.
Does it matter what my sport is?
While specific considerations are made to pick exercises that relate to skiing and snowboarding in the winter and sailing, surfing, and hiking in the summer; all sports require an element of strength, agility, balance, and endurance, so you can expect to see results carry over to all your recreational sports and activities.
