Professional background leading to career in health and wellness:
From an early age, my path into health and wellness was shaped by an involvement in athletics. I grew up mostly playing competitive soccer and baseball, with a small stint playing football for a year in high school. Alongside traditional sports, I dedicated years to training in martial arts, eventually stepping into a teaching role where I ran my own school for 3 years of over 100 students. It was from teaching martial arts that I discovered a genuine passion for helping people improve themselves. Coaching students of all levels showed me the impact that we can have on people's lives. It showed me how coaching movement balanced with emotional support can help change people's confidence, health, and overall well-being.
That experience ultimately led me to pursue a professional career in health and wellness. I first earned my Associate's degree in Rehabilitation Science from New England Institute of Technology and became licensed as a Physical Therapist Assistant. I spent almost 10 years seeing a wide range of orthopedic conditions related to sports or work injuries, as well as pre- and post-operative cases involving total joint replacements and ligament reconstruction surgeries. Outside of working as a PTA, I worked as a personal trainer helping a variety of clients with goals related to general fitness, return-to-play post physical therapy, and sports performance. My background in athletics and enjoyment for training led me to continue my education by earning a Bachelor's degree online through Maryville University with a minor in strength and conditioning. I am excited to bring this culmination of experience and education to the NPT team and continue my career helping people.
What reasons you are passionate about helping others:
My passion for helping others truly stems from my time teaching martial arts. Seeing the transformation in physical and mental confidence gave me a strong sense of purpose. I’m passionate about helping others set and achieve goals, overcome limitations, and build habits that improve their physical and mental well-being. Whatever your goals may be, I find purpose in giving people the tools and support they need to succeed and feel stronger in all aspects of their lives.
What do you enjoy in your free time:
My free time is best spent with my wife and two boys. Traveling with them, taking them to their activities and sports, or getting out on the local trails and bike path we have in town. Going to the gym and having date nights with my wife. Other than that, I love anything that keeps me outdoors, active, and off our phones!
